inspiration :: the peony
Friday, June 10, 2011 by {darlene}
Last week, the boys and I, together with some friends, visited the amazing gardens at Peony’s Envy. This is a garden that has been featured on the Martha Stewart show… and I can certainly see why.
There are few things lovelier than the Peony. It was a delight to be fully surrounded by row after row after row of all varieties of peonies. How I wish I could send the amazing fragrance across our computer screens, but pictures will have to do. I thought you would enjoy seeing some of the beauty of that day:

One of my favorite moments in the garden was when my oldest son {age 5} declared, “Let’s go back to the part of the garden where the beautiful sun is shining down on all of the pretty flowers!!!” He, and his buddies, were simply enjoying the wonder of Creation that day.
When I walked through the gardens, my mind couldn’t help but wander to the joys of bringing pink into our homes. For me, personally, that means a restrained splash of gutsy fuchsia and magenta here and there, as well as adding pink flowers en masse to a room to add color and joy.
Enjoy the following spaces, and their splashes of peony pink. Be inspired!

{1. Annie Kelly; 2. House Beautiful; 3. Little Green Notebook; 4. Fieldstone Hill Design Board; 5. Nate Berkus}
What is your favorite way to add a touch of pink in your home? or do you prefer to go all-out pink? are you a sucker for a beautiful peony?
Oh, and aren’t those boys just darlin?? just saying.

    I just planted this summer three peony plants, my favorite flower besides protea. The scent is to die for.
