brass beauty (rethink brass with this roundup)
Monday, August 17, 2015 by {darlene}

I dedicate this post to brass.

which I shall now rename: Art Brass.

Some people are still under the delusion that brass is passé. This is not the brass of the massed produced McMansions of the 80’s. And we are NOT talking boob lights here, people.

Brass has turned sculptural.

Brass is now art and eye candy for the home.

Brass is the perfect accent. the perfect high note. the perfect shine. the jewelry.

You want brass.

Don’t believe me that brass is like art for your home?

alert! kitchen update!

I have been loving brass, and I am eager to bring more of this deep golden hue into my own kitchen remodel. {follow #projectFHDkitchen on instagram, my posts here, and my Pinterest kitchen inspiration board}

Granted. We are taking it slowly, since we are doing this baby without incurring debt, but I have started collecting gorgeous goods for my kitchen remodel. Gorgeous BRASS goods, that is!

What better way to add high-gloss glamour to your 1820’s farmhouse than with Art Brass detailing??

We have picked our gorgeous faucet, which is uber sculptural:

{this is Pretty-Bling AND Pretty-Useful, with the super cool touch-free feature that I am giddy about}

Delta Trinsic Brass Beauty

{Delta Trinsic Single Handle Touch 2O Faucet, Champagne Bronze}

and I have been dying for a brass pot filler for many a day. So I snagged this one. Mine will take on a more modern mix in my kitchen than shown in this image {although, can I have that pot to go with it??}:

Delta Pot Filler Brass Beauty

Another brassy touch?

I am pretty much sold on these drawer pulls. Simple. Perfect. Artful. Brassy for that Arse.

Brass beauty Roundup

I also plan on adding brass detailing to my kitchen hood. With strips of brass edging, a la the black-kitchen-hood-image above, or possibly in the style of this image below:

brass hood edge

And if money were no object, I totally would have gone with brass inlay on my cabinets, as in the kitchen above designed by Brigit Israel. Because, how STUNNING is that???

So do tell!

What are you thinking of brass these days?

Do you have any brass hangups as a result of the late 80’s??

What is your fave brass inspiration?!

Delta Faucet is the gracious sponsor of this post. I love that they, too, embrace the #HappiMess of life!

All opinions are my own. But you should know something about important our connection. It was ‘lil ol’ ME** who reached out to them on account of the GORGEOUS design of their Trinsic faucet. Delta just so happens to be savvy enough to work with bloggers, and for that I am grateful! Thank you, Delta. You guys GET IT. Gorgeous design, accessible pricing, advanced technology……Oh, and Brass.

{**disclaimer to my mother: Yes, mom. I know I was supposed to say “It was I who reached out to them,” but I couldn’t figure out how to Type-SCREAM in all caps when I is only one letter. Sigh. The mental torture of being the daughter of an English teacher.}

Master Designer Series – and a dream
Monday, July 27, 2015 by {darlene}

Today begins a simple series that I will add to as I am able. This is a cry from my heart, and it is attached to a dream.

My cry:

That bold design comes from our Creator, and we can find confidence in boldly being ourselves, because nothing is more bold or audacious than He.

My dream:

To create a gorgeous coffee table book called “Master Designer.” Hopefully, it will sit on your coffee table someday. It will be filled with gorgeous images showing God’s creations, and side-by-side, Man’s creations. It will also have a few inspiring quotes and thoughts of my own.

This is a tough dream, my friends. Creating a coffee table book is PRICEY and publishers don’t like to gamble on them. The cost to the purchaser is then also high. This is due to all the photography and printing costs.

But I am all about dreaming these days and making things happen these days. This is not a dress rehearsal, my friends. This is the day for taking steps toward your dreams. And steps are usually tedious and mundane, but they are the stuff of dreams.

To that, I offer this new series that will be simple photo reflections, as well as inspiring quotes, on

The Audacious Creations of God alongside The Audacious Creations of Man, God’s Masterpiece. #MasterDesigner {<- Tweet This}

 Thanks for listening to my dream.

I will be back with more inspiring Master Designer images.

And. I hope you are working on dreams of your own {maybe even share them in the comments?}…..
