objects :: decorating with vintage prints {plus a special offer for FHD readers}
Wednesday, June 6, 2012 by {darlene}

I often recommend to my eDesign clients that they use vintage prints to enhance their walls. It is a practical solution, and a beautiful solution, AND an affordable solution to filling the room with gorgeous art.

Now, I am a big believer in also buying original art {like these lovelies}, but most of us are not wealthy art collectors, and we need other options to enhance our original pieces. And it is for that reason that I recommend using prints.

You can see how I used prints in the following design boards:

Adding a print collection to your home can have such a big impact. These pics show some GORGEOUS print collections that are sure to inspire:

When it came time to creating a Mood Board for my sister Tammy’s first nursery, I definitely had to throw a few cute prints in there, and glam them up with some chunky, gilded frames:

Sooo….., I was very giddy when my latest sponsor contacted me, Beth of Saturated Color, wanting to advertise with FHD AND send me a gorgeous vintage print!

Saturated Color offers the classiest collection of high quality vintage prints you could find.

My nephew will be born in the Year of the Dragon. Which is some-kinda-big-deal, so I have been told. So, I just had to get this AMAZING vintage print from Saturated Color. I matted it in navy and framed it in black. Love it! Isn’t it a stunner?????

Just LOOK at the rich, stunning colors in this print {don’t even get me started on that cute, happy dog…}:

Beth at Saturated Colors has some seriously stunning stuff, y’all. And I am so giddy.

She is giving FHD readers 20% off  of her {already great} print prices.

When you shop fill your cart with lots of happy art, just use the code “FHD20” at checkout!!

These are just a few of her A.MAZ.ING vintage prints. And all of these come from collections, so you could make a HUGE impact on one of the walls in your home, for a SONG!

For the next three days, you can order from Saturated Color using the discount code above, and fill up your walls with beautiful things.

Enjoy!!

Do you have a print series on your walls?

Which image above inspires you to get creative using prints in your home?

  • The children’s games are so sweet! She has some lovely options. I have a couple of prints in the kids’ room, but the rest is all original that we’ve picked up on our travels- a piece of artwork is usually my standard souvenir because it’s light and flat and tells a great story on the walls. 🙂

  • I love these! Thanks for sharing!

  • I scrolled through her Etsy shop and may have to purchase a couple. Definitely that Chinese New Year print! We have a daughter adopted from China and I’m always looking for vintage Chinese prints for her room. This one’s colors are fabulous and would go great in her room. 🙂

  • I love the cowboy print! This is inspiring me in several ways. Thanks!

  • Oh boy! I’ve been having trouble finding just the right thing for one of my rooms. Off to check them out! Thanks for the tip, Darlene.

  • I am excited to check out this site….thanks for sharing. Just last night I hung some vintage menus in my dining room and love them!

  • I ordered 2 yesterday – with Father’s Day & my husband’s birthday coming up, it was a great deal. I ordered one of the vintage SC maps – where my husband grew up & where we currently live, and the awesome one of San Francisco – where we spent some of our honeymoon. I’ve been wanting to do this for a while, I was never sure which vendor to use. Having a recommendation (and a discount!) helped me pull the trigger! 🙂 Have a lovely day!

  • I really like vintage children’s books. I have several that have pictures I want to frame: Ferdinand in Spanish, Milly Molly Mandy, The ABC Book of Birds, Make Way for Ducklings. Sometimes you can find them digitally and have a page printed and framed, which means you don’t have to take the book apart. Having them printed also means you can enlarge them to whatever size you want!

  • Love using vintage prints in my home…whether it is an old botanical or an audobon type print…love them all….I have also used actual magazines (the entire magazine framed) in various places and then of course tearing out old ads are great!
