design board :: a dining room with peacock inspiration

You all know how I feel about the colors of the peacock!

Come to think of it, the peacock is the perfect mascot for a gal {ahem. moi} who lies in the balance between farmhouse simplicityand high-gloss glamour. That fancy peacock struts like he lives in a penthouse, but can’t get away from the fact that he loves the farm. Sounds familiar…

Of course, you can imagine my joy when a client contacted me and professed her love for the peacock as well. And, when we worked together to create a beautiful vision for her Dining Room, I loved every drop of turquoise, teal, and gold that was brought into the space.

My client wrote to me, sharing what she loved and what frustrated her:

“I love your pins on mixing metals and peacock blue. I love blues and golds! So I guess my main problem is I want to love my kitchen and dining room, and I don’t. Which makes me sad because we have spent so much money on it. So that’s where you come in…. to save the day :)”

One of my client’s challenges was that, once she put all of her beautiful furnishings together in her space, the overall effect was dark and heavy;  the beauty of the pieces were weighed down by the overall dark tones. She longed for a bright space that was beautiful as well as inviting for her young family.

The solution was to bring in as many light elements as possible, via accessories, trim paint, mirrors, and wall paint, while still draping the room in rich details, such as the velvet turquoise fabric on the chairs and the bold black and white striped pillows on the side chairs.

Here is the  “After” for this Dining Room space; a Vision Board that will help my client to keep a focused direction in redecorating her space:

Reusing many of the main furnishings in the space, we were still able to create a whole new look for this Dining Room that will serve the needs of a growing family, while surrounding them in beauty.
Beauty inspired by the likes of a peacock.

I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR YOUR THOUGHTS ON THIS ROOM!

THANK YOU FOR CONTINUING TO ENCOURAGE ME AS I KEEP BALANCING THE DREAM OF FIELDSTONE HILL DESIGN!
