ditto :: a living room for the modern equestrian
Monday, October 31, 2011 by {darlene}

I hope that you are having a wonderful Monday.

I am feeling refreshed in every way after 3 days of learning and growing with some of the most talented, giving, loving, brilliant women I have ever met. Last Thursday-Saturday, The Relevant Conference 2011 was held in Harrisburg, PA, and blogging women from all over the United States gathered to put First things First and to blossom in their talents. To say that I had a glorious time does not even begin to do justice to this gathering. {and yes! pictures will be coming soon}.

Despite a snow storm across the country, no internet {I am using hubby’s phone to get an internet signal}, and 3 nights without sleep {yay for grown-up-girl slumber parties}, I am bound and determined to do our favorite Monday thing together, as always!

{Besides, I can’t push our ditto out to Tuesday, because I have a SUPER exciting Giveaway happening tomorrow. It may involve free design services…….}

Time for a ditto!!

This week’s space can be found here. And be sure to share! I would love to hear what you would ditto from this space:

DITTO :: {WHAT I WOULD STEAL FROM THIS SPACE}:

  1. that horse. of course.  I love, love all things equestrian. {post coming soon-ish!} This amazing art piece is practically sculptural and 3-dimentional in it’s presence. He is gutsy. strong. beautiful. center-stage. Add a piece like this to your space and you have instant wow-factor.
  2. mongolian lamb pillows. I am really in the mood for mongolian lamb pillows lately! Instant fabulous.
  3. orbs . A driftwood orb and a golden piece of spherical art work perfectly together. I love how they introduce the circle shape into a room that is primarily straight lines and rectangles. That is a fantastic interior design “brush-stroke.”
  4. touches of industrial. The coffee table with metal and castors. The side table trunk edged in nail heads. The mercury glass lamp. The armchair with nail head trim.
  5. whites of many kinds. This room has the entire palette of whites that move from white to cream to sand to linen to beige and even browns. I love this soothing color palette.
  6. real life, useful objects as art. This is one of my favorite decorating tools. I love compiling objects that have a practical purpose, and then displaying them as art. Even if their practicality was more useful in years long gone, they still have additional beauty in their former usefulness. In this space, there are several examples: the mini telescope, the dumb-bell weight, the black lantern, stacked pillows under the coffee table, and the beautifully draped throw.
  7. less is more. This room is actually quite “bare” if you think about it. There are only a few accessories, and the room has clean lines present every where you turn. This “less is more” feeling is one I often try to ditto in my spaces. Restraint gives us room to breathe, and it allows life {which is busy and messy and cluttered and full from a life that is fully lived} to fill in the blanks.

WEIGH IN. SO, WHAT WOULD YOU {STEAL} FROM THIS SPACE??

WHAT WOULD YOU DITTO, 1-7? OR SOMETHING ELSE?

I LOVE HEARING YOUR THOUGHTS!

{and I will see you tomorrow for a very fun giveaway!}
