ditto-worthy designer :: Jeffrey Bilhuber
Monday, January 14, 2013 by {darlene}

Today’s Ditto-worthy designer is Jeffrey Bilhuber. I love studying his rooms, especially for his gift of creating a very traditional space that is still fun, not-at-all stuffy, and filled with comforts.

As you pour over the following rooms, keep in mind the following design concepts that I believe make his spaces SOOOOO ditto-worthy! {and don’t forget to think about what YOU would ditto from these spaces!}

Jeffrey Bilhuber‘s spaces are ditto-worthy because:

  1. he has a sassy take on traditional decor. All of his rooms have an element of fun.
  2. of his fantastically bold use of patterns.
  3. of his affinity for buffalo check.
  4. of his regular use of contrasts, especially light vs. dark.
  5. Drapes!
  6. of the value he places on comfort {lots of upholstery and even carpeting}
  7. he uses plenty of pillows and throws.
  8. of his liberal use of nail-heads.
  9. he favors grand-sized pieces of art.
  10. while there is no doubt his spaces have a formal edge, there is nothing stuffy about them. They invite you to stay a while and put up your feet.

  • What beautiful combinations of formal elements and comfort….not always easy to do! The rooms you posted are very inviting and yet full of style. Thanks for bringing this designer to my attention!

  • I love the big art!
    I think I say that every single time you put up something with big art, haha.

  • Now let’s be honest Darlene, did you ACTUALLY have to ask yourself if you are on Pinterest THAT much????

  • I love the designers you feature! I think they’re so different than so much of what I see other places that it’s refreshing. I LOVE buffalo checks and drapes, too. And something you didn’t mention that I’m itching to ditto somewhere in my house is his sometimes emphasis on what I’ve heard called the “5th wall” – those ceilings!
