This glamorous office is a high-dollar look. But with a keen eye, and careful study of the space, you can bring some of these {or all} fantastic elements into your own home using more creativity than dollars. Today’s ditto is an office/dining space by Miles Redd, and it is definitely a gorgeous dose of high-gloss glamour. Wouldn’t you love to create and design and work and dream in this space?

The list below will break down for you many of the decorating concepts that are employed in this great space. As with all of our dittos, let’s study what makes this space SO AMAZING, so that we can learn how to add more beauty to OUR homes!!!

{And, as always, I look forward to hearing from you and finding out what you would ditto, too. So, be thinking!}

DITTO :: {WHAT I WOULD STEAL FROM THIS SPACE}:

1.    DARK, LACQUERED BOOKSHELVES.

Dark and dramatic. Especially amazing when lacquered. Soooo, if you want a glamorous office too, go for it! Ditto!

2.   AN ANTIQUE TABLE FOR A DESK.

Why settle for a simple desk, when you can spread out on an antique table? Of course, the detailed carving really makes this table fantastic, but any beautiful antique table would add class and usefulness to an office. Ditto!!

3.  DUAL DESK CHAIRS.

I love the concept of two chairs at a desk that juts out into the room {like this one, that has always been one of my favorites}. It is perfect for conferencing, and it is such an elegant use of space. I also love the beautiful symmetry it creates. And, practically speaking, it is useful for offering a seat during client meetings, or to have a great place to chat with/work in tandem with a loved one.

4.  ART. SIMPLE.

A square canvas. A white base. A brick red stripe across the top. Leaning up against the bookshelves. It is simple. It is ditto-able. Ditto-DIY-worthy, maybe even?

5.   HERRINGBONE PATTERNED WOOD FLOORS.

Didn’t I have this in my last ditto? Guess I love them! I DO love them!

6. BEAUTIFULLY FILLED BOOKSHELVES.

These shelves are a great example of beautifully filled bookshelves; like I talked all about in this post about Bookshelf StylingDitto!!

7. THAT SPIKEY URCHIN.

See that awesome black urchin on the second shelf down on the left? I would SO ditto that by using this tutorial.

8. THOSE CHAIRS.

Easily ditto-able using these chairs in the right finish and fabric.

9. FURNISHINGS THAT “BREATHE”.

I really believe in furniture with open legs because they allow the eye to travel further across the room and they allow the space to “breathe.” This is a preference that I tend to bring into my eDesigns, because I believe it adds life to a space. When they eye and the light and the air can travel through your space, everything feels lighter than air.

* * * * * * *

SO much goodness.

Love anything I did not mention? or…

WHAT WOULD YOU DITTO {STEAL} FROM THIS SPACE, 1-9? SOMETHING ELSE?

I LOVE HEARING YOUR THOUGHTS!

  • Wow! I would ditto all the same things. This is one gorgeous room! I also love the black and white game board (or box?) on the bookshelf.

  • Though I’m not wanting it for my dining room it really does make a lovely office. The black lacquer bookcases with the gold trim are lovely….and could easily be repeated. Those gorgeous black beams…another story…but wow!!
    I’m intrigued by those tiny little columns (supports) in the book case…love the texture they give.
    You’re the queen of glam Darlene!!

  • Thanks for the basic advice to choose “breathing” pieces, that is smart. I also like the touches of metallic (silver spokes between the bookshelves) and also the bursts of blue here and there. Really lively and fresh.
    Wonderful post Darlene, thank you!! Have a fabulous week!

  • We have black bookcases so this is great inspiration. Love your ditto ideas:)

  • A beautiful office is on my wish list. Currently, I roam around the house with my laptop, sitting wherever the mood strikes, but I browse offices online all the time to find the perfect space for later when I have the room. The floor in this one is absolutely gorgeous and all theose book shelves would be wonderful to have in an office.

  • After taking a closer peek at the picture, I really love the little red lamp – the two shades of red on the stem and the shade are beautiful.

    WOW you’re Ditto right on so many fronts – I’d grab a pile of those tabletop books and settle in for some design inspiration. Very inviting space, I love how the bookcases blend into the rooms architecture. I’ll bring the wine!

  • The artwork isn’t my style and it hides so much of the bookshelf. Wouldn’t ditto that.
    But the table, chairs & flooring? Wow, I’d love to ditto them!
    Debbie 🙂

  • Just so you know, we could EASILY diy your dining chairs to look like that. EASILY!!!

  • I think the bookshelves look great! One doesn’t notice it at first, but the coffered ceiling really gives an added bonus in my opinion! Two thumbs up!
