design board :: a living room wrapped in whites and grays
Thursday, January 19, 2012 by {darlene}

Happy Thursday!

I am excited to share my latest design board with you.

But first, I wanted to let you know that I am sharing a contributor post over at Candace Cameron Bure’s RooMag today. Remember all of the Tangerine Love that we shared? Well, I would LOVE it if you would hop over to RooMag and get your orange fix, especially if you missed my post on Pantone’s Color of the year! And thank you for supporting me at RooMag!

One more bit of fun business: I should let you know, that, slowly but surely, my wait list is whittling away. So if you are dying for a gorgeous Vision for your own space, now would be a great time to get on the list while the gettin’ is good! Click over to my Design Services Page for more information.

Now, onto the Design Reveal:

My latest client adores clean white looks, ruffles, slipcovers, and French influences. It has been fun working on her projects because her style is quite different from mine. So, I have LOVED the challenge of creating a space that is “all her,” while infusing some signature Fieldstone Hill Design elements into the design.

Here are a few of the inspiration photos that my client adores {shared via our Pinterest communication}:

And, here is the Vision Design Board from Fieldstone Hill Design. It contains beautiful and practical solutions {using much of what she already had… just revamped and repurposed and reinvented!}:

As always, I love hearing your thoughts on my designs. Thank you, as always, for being my best cheerleaders! And a special thanks to my clients, who are THE coolest!

must have :: favorite offices and a favorite planner
Wednesday, January 18, 2012 by {darlene}

I am a paper girl.

Oh, now don’t go taking away my MacBook, or I will wheel kick you. But, still. I have tried electronic planning, and things just don’t sink into my head that way. It is paper-planning for moi. Besides.  Nothing speaks to me like a gorgeous handwritten note, or a blank yearly datebook…. filled with promise and the hope that I may just have a “good” handwriting-day {anyone else?}.

So, ahem. I have a favorite planner. And I have tried lots of planners. This one is THE best.

And since I have this-here-blog, I practically begged said-favorite-planner company to send me one of their planners so I can tell all of you about it. So, there you have it. I got a free planner {gleeeee}, and you lucky dogs now get to know about the best planner ever.

Isn’t she pretty?

I wish my pictures accurately showed the sheen of the cover. But, suffice it to say, she is pretty.

Check out her lovely colors.

And she is not just one of those “pretty on the outside only” kinda gals. It is her inside that is most beautiful: Simple. Practical. No-fuss. Open to hope and an organized, properly-tabbed future!

Click on the image below and you can hop over to see the pages in more detail at Get Buttoned Up. {a great company, with great organizational products, a useful blog, and stellar customer service}

Get this pretty planner while the getting is good! I used it for one blissfully organized year, and I am giddy to use it in 2012!

Now. hmmmmm. Since I am such a lover of beautiful things, I think that I will need a gorgeous office to go with my gorgeous planner…. right?

Here are a few office spaces that I just find to be the perfect balance of stunning and inspiring {from my Pinterest board: “Inspiration Offices and Workrooms.” You can click on over for more inspiration and for sources}:

So, how about you?? paper-planner or electric?

and, which office is your fave, 1-6?

{I requested and received a free planner in exchange for this post. No further compensation is associated with this post}

my word of the year :: Do
Monday, January 16, 2012 by {darlene}

Monday is almost always “ditto Monday” around here at Fieldstone Hill. But when Layla threw out the invitation for all of us to share our word of the year, I could not resist. You know how much I love having a Vision, and I think that picking one word to help focus the direction of your upcoming year is a beautiful idea.

So, I asked myself: What focus and what vision am I being called to pursue this year?

The word came right away: Do.

Think less. Do more.

You see, I am a dreamer. I believe in having a vision, and I cannot tell you how much joy I find in planning and thinking and dreaming. {Is this why I am a Pinterest lover?}. Dreaming is just what I do. And having a vision comes easily to me.  I do it with a twinkle in my eye and hope in my heart.

And yes, being a dreamer is so wonderful. It is one of my gifts, and it is why I love doing what I do.

But usually, if you have a strength in your personality, it can sometimes cause weaknesses as well.

And for me, that means that there are times where I need to be Thinking Less, and Doing More.

Do.

Just do.

“Gotta get out of bed, get a hammer and a nail.
Learn how to use my hands.
Not just my head, I’ll think myself into jail.
Now, I know a refuge never grows
from a chin and a hand in a thoughtful pose.
Gotta tend the earth if you want a rose.” – {source}

“He who works his land will have abundant food, but he who chases fantasies lacks judgement.” – Proverbs 20:11 NIV

I have some personal goals for myself this year. And I have some goals for my home this year. And, like each year, we have our family goals set for the year {hubby and I love our New Year’s Planning Date}. We have vision. But, this year, I want to chill out with all my plans, and simply “Do.”

Doing is NOT about earning. Doing is about moving in the direction you were called to go.

I am going to work the land. I am going to tend the earth,

because that’s what you do when you want a rose to grow.

Thank you, Layla, for helping us to kick start the new year in such a fun, purposeful way.

And now, friends, I would love to know, what is YOUR word of the year?
