objects :: 50% off of amazing-ness
Friday, November 25, 2011 by {darlene}

It all started with a few compelling Pins on my “Decorating Myself” Pin-board:

The look of chunky, layered, beaded necklaces is to-die-for, and is all the rage.

Oh, how I was itching to buy a gorgeous necklace that would steal the show!  I was bound and determined to find something just as lovely as those in the pics above… if not more lovely.

So I hit up one of my favorite shopping resources: etsy, of course. And when I was searching, I hit gold, folks!

That is when I found Tara of TaraLynEvans.com.

…. and promptly begged her to become a sponsor at Fieldstone Hill Design. Can you blame me?? Look at a glimpse of her amazing necklaces:

I know. The girl has skills.

I have been thoroughly thrilled to team up with Tara to help her amazing business to grown. She is a complete sweetheart.

Tara was even gracious enough to send me one of her gorgeous necklaces , lovingly named Lemoncello {hello!}. You can see it in this picture of me and Nester {Oh, how I wish I had a better shot of that necklace, this clearly does not do it justice. But it was all about hanging with my girlfriends at Relevant… not many pics were taken! But, take my word for it. The piece is amazing.}. I love this necklace because it looks equally awesome with a gray t-shirt as it does with dress-ups.

But, being the discerning reader that you are, my guess is that you noticed the magical words in the title: 50% off???

How very keen of you.

And Yes!! For the biggest shopping weekend of the year, Tara and I are excited to offer readers of Fieldstone Hill Design a 50% discount off of her entire Etsy inventory {via this link}.

When you go to check out of her Etsy shop, with your cart full of gorgeous necklaces, enter in the code “fieldstonehill” as a discount code. And there you have it! 50% off of amazing-ness.  *this discount is only available at Tara’s Etsy storefront.

Tara is graciously keeping this deal open from now until Monday at 10PM. But, if I were you, I would shop early to get exactly what you love!

A special thank you to Tara! I have the best sponsors, no??

Now. THAT is the perfect way to shop on the busiest shopping day of the year, isn’t it??

{P.S. If you are totally loving Tara Lyn Evans’s necklaces as much as I do, you will be excited to know that she has more treats up her sleeve for Fieldstone Hill readers. Those monthly giveaways I told you about are about to start this December, and Tara is going to help me kick it off with a GORGEOUS piece from her high-end collection. Stay tuned!}

a room I love :: set a funky table
Wednesday, November 23, 2011 by {darlene}

So, tomorrow is the big Turkey Day.

I love Thanksgiving, because is is low on materialism, high on family, and big on food. What’s not to love.

SO, as you are preparing to set your Holiday table, I just had to share the spreads of two of my most favorit-est bloggers ever.

I love these girls because they have BIG personality and guts and laugher. I am pretty sure I love them both to death. We could all use lots of personality, guts, and laughter, no? I think so.

Without further ado, wouldn’t you love to set your table like Angela does?

or like Edie does?

I know. I know. They are brilliant. And I am pretty much going to have to adopt them.

******

I won’t be posting on Thanksgiving, so I want to wish all of you the most wonderful and blessed and happy and yummy of Thanksgivings!  I will see you here on Black Friday, to share a wonderfully yummy shopping morsel with you!

Until then, I had to leave you with some decorating inspiration, of course. Of a dining room, of course. A funky one. I’m thinking you would need to put sequins on your turkey at this table. Love. It.

{This room is a part of FHD’s  “ A Room I Love” series….just a simple hello, from me to you, featuring a Room that I Love, and a quick list of why I love it. Do you love it?}:

{ via Interior Decline}

WHAT I LOVE:

  1. magenta Platner chairs. oh yes.
  2. brown and cream zig zag. I am a fan.
  3. a furry, feathery, white chandelier. adoration.
  4. pretty books all in a row.
  5. white ceramic accent pieces; en masse.
  6. a ceiling medallion. Maybe not for everyone, but I love them.
  7. the glossy, wooden, round table.
  8. that very cool art thing on the table. the perfect place to prop your turkey.

DO YOU LOVE IT?? WHAT DO YOU LOVE? Would you dare to get this funky?

Happy Thanksgiving, friends!!!

ditto :: a fine, formal dining room for holiday dinners
Monday, November 21, 2011 by {darlene}

This is it! The big week for dining rooms!

In many homes this is the only week of the year some dining room’s see any action. Of course, I think that is a shame! Even if you don’t want to move more of your weekly meals into your dining room, you can still move more of your life in there!  You should never have a room in your home that only gets used once a year. If this describes your dining room, I encourage you to really enjoy this space over Thanksgiving, but also, begin thinking right away about how you can get more use and better use out of this space in your home.

Of course, the week of Thanksgiving is the perfect time to ditto a beautiful dining room. And I love this delicate space that is designed by Kara Mann. It is another fine example of the gorgeousness of one of my favorite color combinations in design: Mixed Metals.

{kara mann}

DITTO :: {WHAT I WOULD STEAL FROM THIS SPACE}:

  1. french pleat curtains in silk. This is my favorite feature in this gorgeous dining room. They are not inexpensive, but the dramatic and dressy touch that is added by using French pleated curtains adds such a beautiful room element. This type of pleat, especially in silk, reminds me of a fine ball gown… a perfect touch for a formal dining room.
  2. a chandelier. I love chandeliers. No secret there. I love the sparkle and the glamour! And while I think chandeliers can look gorgeous in just about any room, the dining room is the perfect place to start a chandy habit.
  3. botanical walls. I love this effect in dining room spaces. Botanical murals in dining rooms are a classic touch. They are typically done above a chair rail, and are the perfect place to “get a little fancy” with your walls. I especially love when murals are done in muted tones with swirling, asian-influenced branches and leaves, as they are in this space.
  4. rich, wood floors. Sometimes it can be hard to decide on floor finishes for your wood floor. This dining room has an extra dose of class and high-gloss glamour due to the dark and very shiny wood floors. They contrast beautifully with the other creamy elements that make up this space. A great choice for a formal dining room.
  5. gorgeously pale mixed metals. Pale pink-kissed golds and soft silvers. This palette is soothing and smooth. My favorite part is how the curtains silvery tones contrast with the creamy gold in the walls. It is just delicious. Ditto!  {love mixed metals? you can see more in these posts and my Mixed Metals Pinterest Board}.
  6. simple, fresh flower centerpieces. All the formalities and drama of a formal dining space are brought down to size through the use of two vases filled with small, simple, delicate flowers. And these centerpieces don’t take away from – or keep you away from – the main attraction: the gathering of family.
  7. an antique table. There are many beautiful tables available-for-purchase that are new, and gorgeous in form. But for me? I would ditto an antique table made from walnut or mahogany any day; especially if it offered seating for 10… my dream; just the perfect size for a joyous Thanksgiving dinner.

WEIGH IN. SO, WHAT WOULD YOU DITTO {STEAL} FROM THIS SPACE??

WHAT WOULD YOU DITTO, 1-7? OR SOMETHING ELSE?

I LOVE HEARING YOUR THOUGHTS!
