Design Boards :: The Family Room {on a dime}
Wednesday, June 8, 2011 by {darlene}

I am so excited to share my most recent “Complete” Consultation Design Board with all of you!

My client was looking for a way to update her family room.
She had several challenges:

  1. a difficult room flow
  2. an active family with pets {this room needed to work for them, not the other way around}
  3. a desire to incorporate family heirloom furniture
  4. and a limited budget.

We used a rug that she liked from her current collection, and I used that as the starting point for my Design. My client described her style as “classic,” “timeless,” and “somewhat preppy.”

After I got a sense for her needs, and I got to know her sweet-self a bit, I dove in. And, this is what I envision for their family:

Everything in this room stuck to a strict and do-able budget. We completely changed the floor plan of her furniture to incorporate all sorts of fun family activities {like Uno}, and to make the most of her space.  How exciting!
The floor plan also included her heirloom furniture {not pictured on the design board}. Here is how we made use of all of her available space {I have a little too much fun sketching out these spaces!}:

I hope to be able to help YOU design the room of your dreams, regardless of what you see as your limitations!

My wait-list should be opening up in just a few weeks!! Thanks for hanging in there, darlin’ clients!

I would love to know your thoughts on this Design Board! – {darlene}

ditto :: a blue dream living room
Monday, June 6, 2011 by {darlene}

Happy Monday! Before your stylish self starts ditto-ing, did you enter to win the pertiest house-number plaque ever? ok then. see you back here in a second.

On to a gorgeous ditto. I don’t know the source. I found it on a Flickr stream, but it was too beautiful to pass up. So, if you happen to know the source, do tell.

Check out this room. Isn’t it the dreamiest blue heaven ever?

ditto :: {what I would steal from this space}:

  1. The amazing rattan coffee table. Truly, I am in love. What a glorious way to add a dramatic touch of the natural.
  2. The blue paint color, with a dusting of muddiness {one of my favorite features in a good paint color}. This color is Farrow and Ball, Ballroom Blue.
  3. That tapestry. Simply stunning. Do you have a gorgeous piece of fabric that could be framed as a stunner to your space? I am definitely doing something like this in my living room. It is in the works…
  4. The color scheme of pale aqua, tans and golds. So soothing.
  5. A blue painted ceiling, with white trim. The way that trim surrounds the blue reminds me of classic fabric piping. Like a satin ribbon around a beautiful present.
  6. Beautiful toffee check cafe curtains. I love the soft impact of this casual fabric on a formal living space.
  7. Carpet. I am more of a hardwood girl, but sometimes, it is best to be able to sit on the floor. Nothing beats gorgeous pine floors, but I just have to admit that when I look at a room like this, it makes me want to curl up on the floor with a book.
  8. Lots of comfy comfy seating, all together for a good conversation. This room would leave no one standing.
  9. A perfect blend of casual and fancy. The large stuffed upholstery pieces, plenty of places to set your drink, carpeting, and curtains that blow in the breeze are contrasted by a huge chandelier, sconces, urns, soaring ceilings, and a beautiful tapestry hanging. You are drawn in by the beauty, but comfy enough to stay a while.
What would you ditto?

Can I get your number? A June Giveaway.
Friday, June 3, 2011 by {darlene}

June calls for a giveaway, no?

Well, what it really calls for is a vacation
But alas, I am not heading to Europe any time soon. So, instead, I am going to give my home, Fieldstone Hill, a little touch of bucolic Europe. And then I am going to use my imagination, sip some strong coffee, stare at my sign, and pretend…

Don’t these gorgeous signs make you feel like you are surrounded by cobblestone and history and the smell of espresso??

For the next two weeks of June, you can enter to win one of these gorgeous house number signs from Ramsign.com! Yay. I love free stuff. I especially love free, home-beautifying stuff.

My favorite is the Englehardt,
isn’t she lovely?  Which one is your favorite?

I am giddy about the number sign I am going to place on the old, beautiful stones of Fieldstone Hill’s walls. Don’t you want one too? For a good chunk of June, you have the opportunity to win one of their number signs, a touch of Europe for your home.

Here is how to enter:
1. Leave a comment {it can be any dear, sweet comment. But, wouldn’t it be lovely if you stopped by Ramsign and told me which design was your favorite? They are Danish dears, I tell ya.}

2. For extra entries, you can leave an additional comment for EACH of the following:

  1. Becoming/telling me that you are a Follower of Fieldstone Hill. {you can follow, over there on the right. See all those stylish people?? oh, and it makes me so giddy when I get a new follower.}
  2. “Liking” Fieldstone Hill on Facebook, or telling me you like me {click over there on the right. everyone loves to be liked}
  3. Subscribing to email updates or RSS feed {over there on the right, under “Subscribe”}
3. For 2 additional entries, you can post about this giveaway on your blog or on Facebook! Comment here to let me know.
Since this is my first Fieldstone Hill Giveaway {yippee!}, I am giving plenty of time for entries. The winner will be announced in two weeks. Just be sure I have a way to get in touch with you if you win 🙂 {via email}. What fun!!! Won’t this look lovely on your home?
Have a great weekend, everyone!

From my Files
Thursday, June 2, 2011 by {darlene}

Another gorgeous room that I dug up from my paper files. Don’t you just love this amazing kitchen?

{elle decor}

I am not sure that I own enough beautiful-“display-able” things to have so many glass cabinets. But they really do MAKE the room.

I love!:

  1. the white and vanilla cabinet combo.
  2. The splash of fun blue in the rattan chairs.
  3. polished hardwoods in the kitchen.
  4. extra high ceilings, filled to the brim with cabinetry.
  5. a library ladder and guide rail. so classy!
  6. fresh flowers. of course.
  7. how the stunning brass light fixture mixes and contrasts with cabinet hardware and the vent hood. mixing metals!
What do you love?
