The Tile Wall

It’s still not official, but it is looking like THIS SUMMER for my big kitchen reno!! #projectkitchen #projectFHDkitchen

I have been leaning toward a simple farmhouse look, for the most part with this kitchen. You can get a feel for what I have been going for by checking out these inspiration pics for the overall space {plus our before pics}.

But you know me. I am always sitting right between farmhouse simplicity and high-gloss glamour, and I have been looking for some wonderful ways to glam up the space. When I decided on this hood inspiration from the picture below, I knew it would make an amazing impact, but an effort to be sure there was contrast, between the black hood and the wall behind it, would be in order!

I have loved the Stephen Gambrel kitchen below, for – like – ever! I am obsessed with the dramatic power of contrasts in this space, as well as the utilitarian and rustic wood touches. Talk about #farmhousesimplicity and #highglossglamour . And don’t miss the POWER of putting a white hood against a black tile wall. THIS!:

So, those two pics above got me dreaming, and then I saw this pic below. The foundation was set for my new vision. A stunning tile wall:

Walker Zanger Sonja La Fleur pattern stone mosaic tile, made in Tunisia.

Can you just picture it? Won’t it be amazing!!??

Well, I have already narrowed down my choices quite a bit.

Here are the tiles I am considering. What do you think?

Cadiz, ming green, New Ravenna:

Walker Zanger Sonja:

Granada Grande Mosaic, in the following two color-ways:

and Medina in ming green, New Ravenna:

I am still open to suggestions, my stylish friends! If you know of an amazing tile I have missed out on, well, by golly, share the goods!!

Which tile would you pick?

  • My favorite is the last one. I’ve used walker zanger tile, and have been deliriously happy both times. It;s pricey, but for a wall, helped me dress up my spaces for much less than other surfaces. Enjoy the fun designing!

  • What a decision…I love them all! So excited for you as you move forward with these plans – it’s going to be one gorgeous kitchen! xo

  • My favorite is the last one!

  • Tough decision…Cardiz or Medina, ming green. Both amazing! Can you go wrong with either? Hope that helps:)

  • I’m so excited for you! But as far as tile choice, I guess it depends on what colors you are leaning toward for your cabinets/counters and how much natural light you’ll have. I still really like the simplicity but drama of the dark subway tile. I love that pic too, it’s so European but cozy and looks so good with the floor. That kitchen just draws you in! But if I were to choose one of the above tiles, guess I’d go with Medina in Ming Green.

  • I vote Granada Grande Mosaic in the lighter colorway or the Walker Zanger Sonja. The only one I’m not crazy about is the darker colored Granada Grande Mosaic – it looks Arts and Crafts Movement to me and doesn’t make me think of your style. Of course, I’d love to see how you would prove me wrong! You have great taste!

  • Medina in ming green, New Ravenna for sure!!

  • Such beautiful inspiration! I can’t wait to see what you choose. 🙂 My personal favorites are the first two tiles.
